Inspiration
- Classic Wii games like Wii Sports Resort
What it does
- This is a two player medieval fantasy fighting game with a low-poly aesthetic where you are both wizards battling by casting spells at each other
- Our game has completely original music made by one of our team members
- Wii created our own 3D model of the wizard player characters
- Wii also created our own battle arena using Unity's terrain tools and free assets
- Wii implemented a basic spell attack that simply launches an orb at the opponent player
How we built it
- Unity with C#
- ableton to create music and sound effects
- blender to make our 3d model wizards
Challenges we ran into
- The WiiMote API just didn't work, so wii struggled with connecting the wiimotes to unity, and ended up not being able to do this in time
- sometimes, the API would be able to recognise the controller but not the nunchuck or would just randomly disconnect, and wii couldn't figure out why this was happening
- git being git
- wii had almost no experience in blender, so wii had to learn it to make the 3D model of the wizard
- conflicts between different input handlers in unity were a delight to deal with
- movement broke 15 minutes before the deadline
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- wii were happy with how the 3D models, environment, lighting, menus and music ended up
- learning many new skills (unity, C#, blender)
- josh wiinning werewolf
- having fun!
What we learned
- unity
- C#
- 3D modelling in Blender
- How to create electronic music in Ableton
What's next for Wii Sorcery (Team 53)
- actually adding functionality for the wiimotes
- adding more spells that affect the opponent in different ways
