Inspiration
Sunshine Acres provides a loving, wholesome, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents and help them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures, preparing them for success in adult life.
Many of the children need medicine, and the Department of Child Safety (DCS) requires Sunshine Acres to record all the times the children are given meds. This is a big headache for their Health Administrator, who has everybody fill out paper record, and they have to manually enter this into spreadsheets to export.
What it does
Our system provides a convenient way for parents caring for the children to digitally submit when they provide meds to the children. This is then logged, and can be aggregated and downloaded into a CSV that has all of the data that DCS requires.
How we built it
Our system is made of 5 distinct parts. 1) MySQL Database 2) Convenient Data Access Layer 3) Robust API 4) Health Administrator Client 5) Parent Client
Challenges we ran into
-Date storage inside MySQL as well as dates interfacing with the server/client. -Displaying large tables within UI
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Powerful data access layer for dynamic querying -Easy to understand API -Proper implementation of Vuex -Clean Design -Clever data representation in the HA Client (Conveniently editing a M:N relationship) -Thin parent client app
What we learned
-Vuex -MySQL -Value of Data Access Layer
