Inspiration

The rise of chronic stress and anxiety in teenagers especially in the last 5 years, lead to us wondering how can we help those facing mental health issues? This topic was relevant to us as teens, we've seen the real impact of stress and anxiety in teenagers around us and have all personally dealt with mental blocks in school. We thought to ourselves about what really helps us get through bad days and implemented that in our webpage.

What it does

There is an automated chatbot to talk to, an awareness page with resources, along with a music and self care page to help ease stress and anxiety. All of these are designed to cater to a student’s needs, creating a relaxing safe space for the user.

How we built it

We programmed the web application on replit using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

We faced a lot of technical challenges with the implementation of music and image maps, especially trying to find out how to efficiently find coordinates of the image, but we worked together to troubleshoot. It was also challenging to implement the chat bot as the messages were automated and we had to manually code for the possible inputs of the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the working chat bot and the graphic design throughout our webpage, including the image maps that have clickable points/items.

What we learned

Working together as a team is the most rewarding. When we put all of our minds together we were able to achieve the most. Specifically, we also learned more about the implementation of user inputs. It was also interesting to see how everyone had different ideas and opinions and how in the end it all came together to create our project.

What's next for Team 31 - Shivaani, Likhita, Judy, Nikita, Niya

We hope to do a lot more for people who need help and support, as well as more events like these to strengthen and build more of our technical skills.
