Inspiration

Our inspiration stemmed from the fires in California, where we live and the effects of climate change all around the world.

What it does

It compiles all the necessary information for natural disasters into one app, allowing for resources and updates to be accessed when needed to ensure safety.

How we built it

We built this project from just brainstorming and not knowing what we wanted to do. The theme was so vague, but gave us a lot of freedom to choose what fields we wanted to explore. We brainstormed, argued, questioned, researched, discussed, and finally manifested our idea into a pitch.

Challenges We ran into

This has been the first hackathon for a majority of our team members. Moreover, a majority of us do not have any background in business, as many of us are pursuing other majors and interests academically. This entire hackathon has been an entirely new challenge for each of us, from the coming up with viable ideas to design to the pitch. Moreover, another challenge has been working online. While communicating through voice chat, we often talked over each other and couldn't efficiently do work sometimes. It was also hard to meet up for long periods of time when we weren't physically together because we are all college students who signed up for HackATL for kicks and struggling to balance this and other parts of our lives.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The networking that we were able to experience and the teamwork that we used in the process is something that we are very proud of. We were able to organize a team, and prepare a project in 2 days, which was something that we worked very hard on together.

What we learned

We learned that there are a lot more aspects to building an application that initially perceived. Only through thorough analysis of our idea, were we able to develop a finalized project such as this one.

What's next for Team 24 Quad B's

First off, we will continue being friends... But more importantly, if we ever have the urge, we can look back at this project and reminisce how much we shot down each others' ideas and argued (but also made a sick idea into a cool pitch).
