Team 22 - Invision

Inspiration

it was a mix of passion from previous projects involving compliance as a service, and the opening ceremony mentioning as a joke that there would be AI cameras tracking us making sure we’d not do anything a responsible person shouldn’t do. In this instance, we already knew what we would be building over the weekend.

What it does

The startup world is called vibrant and dynamic by many, and many of the world’s greatest problems are given the greatest solution. And yet CCTV are inherently much less useful than they should be. In organising the HackIreland event for example, discussions were made about keeping the premises as every participant safe, and yet, CCTV does not help us reach that. CCTV is a passive technology, more useful in cases of investigations than prevention. We decided it was time to build the world’s first AI powered CCTV that would report in realtime breaches from codes of conduct, through reporting channels, allowing scale and optimization of current workflows while keeping everyone safer.

How we built it

We used Python for Backend + Shadcn and React for Frontend. We chose ChatGPT o1 and Gemini as our LLM of choice for its video analysis capabilities. We used Sockets (io) for live streaming from virtual CCTVs.

Challenges faced

having found the documentation for “bidi” Bidirectional API, video input, text output modality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While having a less time span to complete to HackTrinity - We believe the project we made is of a high standard, especially within all the constraints. It can solve current problems as of today. InVision is able to catch details that slipped from within most of our peers' attention. We are overall proud to have a polished product in the given constraints.

What we learned

The HackIreland teams were randomised, making new challenges and opportunities for all of us. We have a better understanding of the importance of communication and the skills to work the most efficiently when collaborating with others. We also learned the pain of working with bleeding APIs.

What's next for Team 22

Throughout HackIreland, we have received feedback on our idea and progress and have been encouraged to further develop the idea. A few ideas we have in mind on future versions include:
     - Making a faster live recording system,
     - Find customers and change our model based on feedback.
