Inspiration

The inspiration behind creating the "E-Voting" website stems from the personal experiences of us students who have migrated to different regions for their studies .As students away from our hometowns, we faced the challenge of being unable to physically cast our votes in elections. This personal dilemma sparked a strong desire to find an alternative solution that would enable us and other students facing a similar situation to actively participate in the democratic process and have our voices heard. Realizing the transformative power of technology, we decided to leverage it to bridge the gap between distance and democratic responsibility. This idea led to the creation of the "E-Voting" website, which serves as a platform to empower students and provide them with a convenient and secure means to cast their votes, regardless of their geographical location. The goal of "E-Voting" goes beyond just addressing our personal challenge; it aims to contribute to the broader objective of strengthening India's democracy. We believe that every citizen's voice matters, and democratizing the voting process for students is a step towards ensuring greater inclusivity and representation in our nation's governance. Our passion for being responsible citizens and our commitment to making a positive impact on our country's democratic processes have been the driving force behind the development of the "E-Voting" platform.

What it does

E-voting allows you to cast your vote from anywhere at anytime. It unleashes the power of each vote and provides equal opportunity to everyone to take part in the process of choosing our leader. By combining blockchain and face recognition, the system establishes a robust and trustworthy framework and upholds the principles of democracy and strengthens public confidence in the electoral outcome. Our website aims to eliminate geographical barriers, streamline the voting process, and improve accessibility for all voters of all ages.

How we built it

WE built is using following technologies -

  1. React and angular for UI/UX
  2. MongoDB for Database
  3. Express Nodejs and JavaScript for Backend
  4. Solidity for Ethereum Based Smart Contract
  5. Meta Mask Extension (Crypto wallet)
  6. Python with OpenCV and face recognition libraries The main aim was to develop a secure and transparent digital voting system utilizing 'face recognition' technology and 'blockchain' to ensure integrity, privacy and trust in democratic processes.
    By combining blockchain and face recognition, we established a robust and trustworthy framework

Challenges we ran into

Encapsulating all technologies- our project uses various tech stacks, databases, programming languages. One main challenge we faced was combining MongoDB, React JS, Smart Contract, Python and creating one working website. Working as a team- All our members are in different locations, with different college timings, exam timings. So, picking up a date and time to work on the project was difficult initially. But, we worked together as a team and surpassed this hurdle

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Being able to do our bit in providing solutions to the problems faced during the most important process in our country - "Voting".
  2. Secure and Trustworthy Platform: We are proud to have developed a highly secure and trustworthy e-voting platform.
  3. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Our commitment to user accessibility has resulted in a platform that is user-friendly and inclusive. We have incorporated features that accommodate individuals with different abilities and technological backgrounds, ensuring that every eligible person can cast their vote regardless for where they reside.
  4. Positive Impact: By providing an alternative for students, Aged People, Sick people, Physically challenged people to participate in elections, we can empower this generation of being responsible and active citizens.

What we learned

1.Technical Expertise: Developing "E-Voting" has deepened our technical expertise in building secure, scalable, and user-friendly web applications. 2.Team Collaboration: Working on this project has taught us the value of effective team collaboration, communication, and coordination, especially when tackling complex challenges.

What's next for Team 21 (Tech Turtle) - E voting System

We are committed to continually enhancing the "E-Voting" platform based on user feedback, security advancements, and evolving technologies. The Future Scope of our project includes integration of screen reader which will allow individuals with visual impairments or reading difficulties to access and understand the content of websites. Also, we will work on deploying our website to a robust platform for better reach and accessibility.
