We wanted to come up with a solution for United Way that would be easy to implement, efficient, and sustainable for many years to increase the companies overall missions and allow them to optimize their time. Each team member added their thoughts below:

“One challenge we faced was not having any computer-oriented people to help with technical skills but I believe we worked well together to overcome this challenge and create the best possible outcome.” - Cael Driscoll

"I was inspired by past experiences with advertising and work experience with organization. I learned to improve how to split work between the group and to communicate needed changes. We built it backwards from a solid idea. We struggled with lack of direction from the company and them not telling us what they wanted." - Cameron Kitchen

“Through this project, we had to learn how to creatively come up with a solution with limited resources and had to change our thinking to fit the needs of the company. With great teamwork, we came up with a solution that is feasible and obtainable for the company. Overcoming various challenges, like lacking skill sets in computers, we were able to come up with a good solution. We built out our solution on slides to highlight our actionable insights that we have for the company.” - Carson Guise

"I was really inspired by the fact that our solution will have real life implications and will help more people than we could imagine. I learned how to work effectively in a team with people i’ve never met before, and how to work around the different dynamics to utilize efficiency while also having fun. We built our project by throwing ideas around and seeing what solutions we could make from them. The problems that we faced were jumping the gun a little on what project we were going to get, so we had to quickly switch gears and adjust our focus once we got our selection." - Elizabeth Camacho

"I was inspired by how deeply rooted United Way is in the Buffalo community doing essential behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed. Their impact is huge, but their visibility doesn’t always match it, and I wanted to help change that. Through this project, I learned how critical effective communication and strategic marketing are to an organization’s success, especially when their work isn’t always seen. To build the project efficiently, my team and I took a “divide and conquer” approach, assigning tasks based on each person’s strengths to stay organized and productive. One major challenge we faced was integrating AI into our solution. At first, we thought we needed to build something entirely new, but we realized there are already many free, AI-powered tools available for nonprofits we just needed to identify the right ones and apply them creatively." - Kene Ukpabi

"I was inspired by the local community leaders that are passionate and committed to helping others. I learned how to approach a problem from the perspective of both a user of these services and from the perspective of a community leader. Initially, it was a challenge to pin down exactly what issues we were trying to fix, but once we identified the issues, our team effectively worked together to form our pitch" - Noah Wexler

“I learned how to think critically and approach a conflict from multiple different perspectives. I was inspired by my group members along with powerful insight from different mentors. Some challenges we faced was balancing our creative ideas and coming up with a practical solution for the company we’re working with.” - Yusuf Choudry
