Inspiration
We were inspired by the countless students who go unheard during group work (as shown in the video), where participation is often dominated by a few voices.
What it does
Equilo is the intelligent tabletop device that tracks participation and identifies speakers, ensuring every student's voice is heard in collaborative learning.
How we built it
We combined voice recognition, camera tracking, and real-time data visualization using a custom-trained ML model, integrating everything into a sleek, interactive hardware prototype.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with distinguishing overlapping voices and aligning audio-visual data streams accurately in noisy classroom environments, although we were able to enhance our algorithm to work in such environments as well.
What's next for Team 15: Equilo
We truly believe in Equilo’s potential and plan to pilot it in real classrooms, while exploring a Kickstarter launch to bring the product to educators nationwide.
