Team 13 - Jeonger

Inspiration

One of the leading issues in both Korea and the USA is the rising senior population. Many of these seniors live alone and do not have easy access to community or care. We tried to come up with a solution which may help increase senior interaction with the youth in a mutually beneficial way which allows seniors to live more vibrant, active lives. Younger generations

What it does

Our app aims to connect this large senior population with the service and company with younger generations who are physically able and diverse skillsets. A new gig work option is imperative due to over-saturation of the current gig apps like doordash and uber. A slowing global economy has led to a shortage of entry level jobs. Senior citizens will be able to create tasks that they need help with such as picking up groceries, help with technical equipment like printers/computers, or just companionship. These younger workers will be compensated for their time at a rate based on the rarity of their skills that were required to complete a task.

This program will be funded by reallocation of federal, state, or local funds aimed to assist senior care. Seniors also have the highest median income across all age groups, so payment for services can also come from donations or out of pocket.

How we built it

This app is a webpage, since this is a short ideathon, we focused on the non-technical aspects of our app primarily. However we do have a functioning HTML/JS/CSS webpage to demo our vision for an application. In the future we will add RAG, retrieval augmented generation to our LLM chatbot, which will preload senior accounts with information about their pre-existing health information and so much more.

Challenges we ran into

Public funding will be a challenge as we must work with elected officials in local, state, and federal governments in order to redistribute caretaker funds.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to meet with 8 different mentors, many of which had senior family members of their own. They gave us great feedback which resulted in many features that we did not think of on our own.

What we learned

There are currently many volunteer based operations across the world, but none of them feature a gig based economy where people are fairly compensated for their work.

What's next for Team 13 - Jeonger

Our future AI engine which runs the backend of our chatbot will rely on RAG (retrieval augmented generation) Will be based upon a general purpose LLM like Claude Sonnet 4.5, chatgpt 4, or gemini 2.5 flash RAG will allow us to give the model additional context based on very specific knowledge as it pertains to senior care, we will potentially fill the dictionary with items like: Their pre-existing health conditions, region specific info, senior specific government forms (like senior home tax exemption forms).
