Inspiration
We took inspiration from our everyday lives, since we are currently still in a semi lockdown phase. Our interactions with our friends are limiting to video calling, voice chatting and playing online games, so perhaps there is a new way for us to interact with other people without the feeling of awkwardness and with the flexibility to choose who to chat with and how to chat with.
What it does
Our project “Let’s Chat!” is about creating a platform where strangers can get to know each other in a more in-depth way, and for current friends and couples to get to know each other better. Our project adopts the 36 questions paradigm used in Arthur Aron’s experiment in the generation of interpersonal closeness. This set of questions can facilitate strangers to get to know each other on a more personal level and make connections with each other. We believe that by using these questions as a trigger in today’s fast paced society, to slow down, think about yourself and tell your story to others, it helps one in stepping out of one’s comfort zone and create/deepen connections with others.
How we built it
We used an interface design tool Figma to design the layout and functions of the Let's Chat! website.
Challenges we ran into
Our team has no experience in website design or development so we were unable to code the website from scratch hence we decided to spend more time discussing on the idea itself and focused on making the website design more appealing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Eventhough we were all aware of our lack of skills during the course of this hackathon, we were proud that we could still work as a team relatively smoothly since we do not know each other prior to this hackathon and be able to bounce ideas of one another during the brainstorming phase.
What we learned
We have benefited greatly from the workshops provided although it was a huge regret we were unable to make use of the knowledge taught during them.
What's next for Team 103
We have no idea!
