Inspiration

Being first year computer science undergraduate students caught in the same situation as the rest of the world, we started to think about ways to make life a little more easygoing for some. In our experience, getting feedback from our professors became extremely hard now that we can't see them in person, so we decided to develop a straightforward web app which would help with that.

What it does

It allows students and teachers to register and sign in to the app, and from there they have different options depending on their role: Teachers can create or remove questions that are to be answered by students. They can also leave feedback on the students' answers. Students can view and answer the questions posted by teachers, as well as the feedback left by them.

How we built it

Using Python 3.8 and the Django web framework.

Challenges we ran into

Django itself, as we had no prior experience with it, yet could not come up with an idea we'd like better. We had to learn it from scratch, and we've just recently gotten our bearings.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning Django, the pressure we were facing as we struggled to think of a way to make our idea work, combined with this being our first hackathon, made for a very stressful yet fruitful experience.

What we learned

How to use Django, as well as how to properly communicate in team situations using messaging apps and GitHub for collaboration.

What's next for teachNow

Further smooth out the edges as we continue practicing with Django, eventually reaching the project in its ideal form, the way we had thought of it.
