Inspiration

Teaching during the current pandemic is a mess. Some teachers prefer using Google Hangouts, other Discord, and yet, others only use email. We have created an easy to use, full-featured, online learning and teaching environment.

What it Does

Our software has a very user-friendly interface for teachers at any tech level and combines easy to use teaching tools and interaction with students to stay active and involved during the lecture.

How we built it

PHP, MySQL, node.js, Google Cloud Services, HTML, Javascript, and our hopes and dreams.

Challenges we ran into

We tried to break our limits, for three of us, this was our first hackathon. We never built a ChatBot or a Streaming service, in just a matter of hours, we conducted market analysis and followed every step to create a giant web app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We took high risks, by trying technology we never used before, and succeded in implementing it. We are happy to have completed our project before the deadline even tho many of us did not believe it could even be done in 5 days. We all made friends and experienced a fast-paced development environment, fast decision making on the go.

What we learned

We have learned to navigate through a fast-paced project management life cycle and some programming and development. We also learned how to create chatbots, how to create streaming services. We got the real-world experience by surveying students and teachers about their problems with tech since the coronavirus outbreak.

What's next for Teaching Platform

The teacher chatbot could learn how to answer questions directly from the comment section and save time to the teacher for repetitive questions. Teachers could eventually sell their already used lectures and assignments to make some extra money. This could potentially cheapen costs and bring top-notch education to people financially vulnerable around the globe. We could change lives.

I worked on the video interface for this project and being it was my first time using webRTC there was a lot to learn, both about video connections, and web development in general. I really learnt a lot more about web development, using node.js and deploying a node app, and even though I ran into some ssl issues when deploying the interface, it was an amazing learning experience. I learnt so much along the way, while making friends and having fun.

This group is the best team, our project speaks by itself. In order to start faster I did the brainstorming on what project we would work on and gave some really good ideas and turned current issue I was facing with my professors through online learning into project and made some adjustment with a team, I created concise and to the point surveys to get an update on what is needed in the marketplace and helped everyone throughout life cycle of the project throughout 24 hours.

I helped my team to generate the idea. I worked on the business side of the project; researching about all of our competitors, what differentiates us and why our product is needed. I loved working with a team and have ideas constantly flowing. We all worked extremely well together and made sure to incorporate all ideas. Very grateful we had this opportunity and can't wait for the next!
