Problem Being Addressed:

TeachAI addresses Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. One of the aspects of this goal is to ensure quality education for all, however, TeachAI goes past just providing quality education; It goes deeper into building the perfect and conducive environment for learning. Through utilizing Symbl AI’s conversation API, TeachAI can retrieve data of the child’s current learning atmosphere, from their level of understanding during the lesson, their engagement, attentiveness, interest, and learning style. All this data collected and analyzed by educational practitioners can begin the siphoning off of all the imperfections in our current educational system. It will change the perspective of the educational system all around the world; from the primordial ways of class by class development to the personal cultivation of every single child in the room. During the learning, the audio of the classes is recorded and passed through the Audio API to be transcribed and analyzed to bring out insights into the atmosphere of the class. Teach AI collects this data and maps it to the individual students in the room on their performance during the class in areas of attentiveness, engagement, and interest. This data is then reviewed by the teacher who works on how to improve the class for these students.

Problems Faced When Making The App

Frontend

We had challenges being able to connect the frontend table which displays the metrics to the backend (symbl.ai’s software) to enable automatic conversion of the data the AI receives into information which the teacher or student can then understand.

Backend

While we were able to use Symblai endpoints to retrieve some conversation data, we faced difficulty retrieving other types of data like members in a conversation from some of symblai endpoints. This was partly due to the need for premium versions of zoom, which we wanted to integrate our software with, and also unknown errors difficult to fix in the time frame. To bypass this to enable us test the functionality of our algorithm we generated similar prototype responses like the one's symbl.ai would normally produce in the same format. This proved to be a successful as our application worked
