Inspiration
Feeling confused during a lecture is never a good feeling. But asking for help especially during an online session can be a daunting experience for most students. A solution that allows students to give real-time feedback to their professor during a portion they found confusing while remaining anonymous is important.
What it does
Teach SOS is a revolutionary platform that empowers teachers to gather real-time insights on their students during online sessions. Our website offers students the opportunity to provide instant feedback to their teacher during their online lectures. This helps educators quickly identify and address learning gaps, ensuring every student stays on track.
During the lecture, students will have access to a webpage that allows them to anonymously click an "SOS!" button during any portion of the lecture they found confusing. This data will then be given to the teacher at the end of the lecture and they'll have the opportunity to see which portions of the lecture most students found confusing. Teachers will not be able to see the name of the students who clicked the "SOS!" button. They will be given a time stamp of when the "SOS!" button was pressed.
How we built it
Front-end: html, CSS, javascript Back-end: aws lambda, python UI/UX: Figma
Challenges we ran into
Our DNS wouldn't propagate. Time constraints was the most challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Settling on an idea and getting it mostly fleshed out as we had planned.
What we learned
We learned about the importance of teamwork, ideation and how to use new tools like AWS and lambda functions.
What's next for Teach SOS
Implementing coaching for teachers to create better engaged online learning sessions. To create an environment for teachers by teachers to better serve students.
