Inspiration

Many people often find it challenging to decide where to go or what to do when they want to be more social. The uncertainty of not knowing which events will match their interests can feel overwhelming. We wanted to create something that gives people confidence and helps them find meaningful opportunities to connect.

What it does

Our app is a personalized social event discovery platform. By taking into account a user’s lifestyle, hobbies, and preferences, it recommends unique events happening nearby. The goal is to inspire people to get out, try something new, and make real connections.

How we built it

We built the front end with Vue and TypeScript to create a clean, responsive, and intuitive user interface. On the back end, we used Python to handle logic and data processing, while Supabase served as our database solution for managing users and event information. For data extraction and analysis, we utilized Google Gemini, Jupyter Notebook, and Google Colab, which allowed us to process event data effectively and feed it into our recommendation system. This combination of tools gave us both flexibility and speed in development.

Challenges we ran into

Time was our biggest challenge. This was only a 24-hour hackathon, and the pressure was on from the very start. Extracting reliable event data from Eventbrite turned out to be more complicated than expected and took longer than planned to resolve. Additionally, building a recommendation system that felt accurate and personalized was tougher than expected. We wanted to ensure users could trust that our suggestions would be genuinely relevant, and that required a lot of iteration and quick problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

None of us experienced many hackathons -- and for some of us, this first time working with parts of this tech stack. Despite being new to some of these tools and facing such a tight deadline. We’re especially proud of how well we collaborated under pressure, how quickly we learned, and how much we were able to accomplish as a team.

What we learned

We learned a lot about working with different technologies—spanning frontend, backend, databases, and data analysis tools. We also learned how to adapt quickly when things didn’t go as planned and how to break down big problems into smaller, achievable steps.

Future Endeavors

Looking ahead, we want to expand our recommendation system with even more personalized features, tailoring event suggestions in smarter, more dynamic ways. We also aim to build out community features so that users can connect not just with events, but also with like-minded people who share their interests. Our vision is to grow this into a standalone app that inspires people to step out of their comfort zones and build meaningful social connections.
