Issues and Challanges

One of the issues related to COVID-19 emergency is the loss of job. More families are under strain for the lack of salary.

On the other hand, there are a lot of potential donors out there who would love to help, but they don't exactly know how to do that, who they can trust and how to prioritize their donations.

Our challenge is to drive the donations choices in order to allow a smarter and faster way to distribute real value to vulnerable people who actually need.

Our Mission

We want to ensure quick delivery of food, essential goods, medicine, through the creation of a fund available for people who can’t even afford the minimum livelihood. How can we do that?

What came to our mind is 'caffè sospeso' or pending coffe, which is a cup of coffee paid in advance as an act of anonymous charity, quite common in southern Italy. We were inspired by this old tradition and created the concept for SoSpesa.

SoSpesa is an e-market where you can buy a virtual product whose value is converted into a real donation, based on user preferences and suggestions.

Features & Requirements

SoSpesa allows users to navigate through a list of virtual products that can be customized based on user preferences.

It has three unique features to guarantee a terrific donor experience:

1) Customized donation - We give the donors the chance to make donations according to their preferences. Donors can configure their donation by choosing:

- Category (ie: food, health, education, …)
- Location: Which country/region/area you’d like to help
- Amount: how much you want to donate

2) Real-Need Oriented - We create a recommendation system based on: - Big data of user preferences - Real-time alerts of needs and emergencies through cooperation with magazines and newspapers

3) Accountability - Once donation is made, you will be able to track the delivery of your donation through a tracking system

Thanks to these unique features, we are confident to:

  • Reach out to the largest number of potential donors
  • Create a connection point between potential donors and non-profit associations
  • Make the donor’s donations more sensitive to beneficiaries’ actual needs
