Inspiration
Research has shown numerous benefits of parents reading stories to children. However, not every parent has the time to find good stories and read to their children. One of our teammates faced this issue when he was serving in the military overseas as he had to video call his children every night to read them a story based on interesting things that happened in the day.
What it does
fAIble helps parents to generate creative stories based on the parent's input, and lets the children decide how the story continues in a "build-your-on-adventure" style and the story is read to the children using the parent's voice. fAIble helps busy parents ensure their young children never misses a quality storytime.
How we built it
ReactJS frontend and NodeJS backend with call to OpenAI.
Challenges we ran into
We were experimenting with Claude/Cohere and AWS but we did not have the expertise to build a demo in time. We also did not have time to build in the interactivity function.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have a really cool frontend customised for kids with joyful images and got a cloned voice of our teammate (with children) to read the generated story
What we learned
Fixing lots of bugs on both front and backend. Tried Claude and Modal and learned how to connect Modal with a database on AWS.
What's next for TBD
A parent side app to check the children's interaction with the app
