Inspiration
We were inspired by the fast-fashion trends of our modern day and how it causes over-consumption. The actual design was inspired by a game called Toca Boca.
What it does
Closet Craze is an interactive game where you can dress up and customize a character with a range of outfits and accessories. This game allows the player to explore their personal style, while also minimizing overconsumption of microtrends. The goal is to find timeless pieces that will fit within the player’s wardrobe, rather than ones that quickly filter in and out of style.
The player is welcomed with a tasteful home screen, before entering the closet. Here, we display a variety of options: 4 different shirts, pants, shoes, hairs, and accessories! The player may mix and match as they please. Once their outfit is selected, they can take a screenshot and show it to their friends!
How we built it
We used HTML, Javascript, and CSS, specifically some of the materialize framework. All of the graphics were hand-drawn using procreate and put together in Canva to design the UI, and implemented using CSS image buttons. All of our styling and script was also done inline in the respective views files.
Challenges we ran into
Going into this project, it was half our group's first time ever doing Web Development, so 2 of our group members had to learn all of the HTML, CSS and JavaScript incorporated in our project today! It was also all of our first times implementing a website grid, so the biggest challenge we ran into was trying to align the image buttons with the background we created, having to create distinct classes to add inline style padding to each individual item.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that you can layer images on top of eachother and make the avatar super cute! Also, we think the entire site looks amazing, and like a cozy game we'd actually like to play.
What we learned
We learned a lot about CSS and javascript, especially in styling using a flexbox and grids.
What's next for ClosetCraze
We plan on implementing a database using sql so you can actually save your outfits, as well as creating features where you can customize outfit colors, and maybe even upload custom pieces into your closet.
