Inspiration
Our inspiration stems from a shared passion for education and a desire to empower students through immersive and interactive learning experiences. We recognize the importance of understanding art throughout history and believe that virtual reality (VR) can be a transformative tool in making education more engaging.
What it does
Our project is a VR-based educational experience that allows users to explore important artworks in art history. Users can interact in a virtual environment, asking real-time questions and receiving responses from their personal AI instructor. This AI instructor provides insights into specific art periods and paintings, creating an interactive and personalized learning experience.
How we built it
We built our project using Unity as the primary development platform for the VR experience. The integration of OpenAI's API facilitated real-time interaction and responses from the AI instructor. We faced challenges in working with Unity, particularly in dealing with unknown compiler errors. Additionally, finding the correct OpenAI package on GitHub posed difficulties, hindering us from implementing the desired methods seamlessly.
Challenges we ran into
Working with Unity presented challenges, especially when encountering unknown compiler errors. The OpenAI package on GitHub proved to be elusive, making it challenging to find the right resources for implementing specific methods. Overcoming these hurdles required a combination of troubleshooting, collaboration, and perseverance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges, we successfully created a functional VR experience that enables users to interact with art and history dynamically. Our team's dedication and collaborative efforts resulted in a project that we are proud to showcase. We overcame technical obstacles and developed a foundation for future expansion.
What we learned
Throughout the hackathon, we deepened our understanding of Unity, VR development, and the integration of external APIs. Navigating unknown compiler errors and GitHub challenges enhanced our problem-solving skills. Additionally, we learned the importance of effective collaboration and communication within a team.
What's next for TBD
Our vision for the future includes enhancing the VR experience with more engaging 3D assets, making learning intuitive and enjoyable for any subject. We aim to expand our educational platform beyond art history, incorporating a broader range of subjects and topics. The next steps involve refining and expanding our project to contribute positively to the future of education.
