Inspiration

Most African airports lack adequate resources, including a lack of staff, resulting in passengers not having enough people to ask questions about gates, check-in points, simple luggage questions, various airline policies, and other airport services. Furthermore, there is a language barrier in which most of the staff does not understand the languages spoken by different travelers, which becomes a burden to those who pass through those airports. We believe that technology can help passengers by explaining available services to them while airport staff spend their time on other important aspects of the airport that our solution does not touch.

What it does

Flist will assist in answering passenger questions, directing them to the correct terminal, and informing them about their flight. It will also boosts revenue generation for airports offering restaurant and shopping services by interacting with their APIs, giving passengers the possibility to make reservations and purchases without direct interactions with staff.

How we built it

For this project, we focused on developing the idea and prototyping the app that could be used on the go in the airport, as well as a sample voice assistant demo that could be integrated into the app.

Challenges we ran into

The challenge is determining which import information is critical to the passenger, which will require some research to determine which one we must prioritize.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our overall concept and how various African airports can benefit from it. We were pleased with what we were able to create in 48 hours, including our prototype and voice chat demo.

What we learned

We learned how to work as a team, how to manage ourselves across time zones, and how to generate ideas in a virtual world. We also improved our skills in voiceflow and Figma.

What's next for FLIST

Flist's future plans include continuing to develop an API that can be integrated into various airport systems around the world, as well as conducting extensive research on the critical information that passengers require to ensure a smooth journey.
