Evie

Inspiration

Our project was inspired by the growing anxiety many people feel about climate change. Studies show that nearly 60% of young people worldwide are very or extremely worried about climate change, and these feelings can affect their daily lives. We wanted to turn that concern into action by creating a platform that helps individuals and organizations make a positive environmental impact together.

What it does

Evie is a platform where individuals and organizations can request or provide funding for eco-friendly activities such as planting trees or recycling drives. Users can share their completed projects, explore others’ contributions, and get inspired to take part in meaningful environmental actions within their communities.

How we built it

We used Figma Make to build the initial structure and visual layout of our web app, then refined the generated designs in Visual Studio Code. We collaborated through a GitHub repository, sharing updates and version control throughout the process to ensure smooth teamwork.

Challenges we ran into

It took us time to choose a meaningful project that reflected something we all cared about. Integrating Figma Make’s generated designs into Visual Studio Code was also challenging at first, as we had to adjust the layout and ensure the components worked correctly in code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was our first time using Figma Make, and we successfully built a working prototype of our web app. We’re proud of how cohesive our design, code, and teamwork turned out, especially within the limited time of the hackathon.

What we learned

We learned how to effectively prompt AI tools in Figma Make to achieve better design results that match our creative vision. We also improved our collaboration and learned how to quickly move from concept to prototype under real deadlines.

What's next for Evie

We plan to integrate the Visa API to enable real funding and donations, back up data using firebase or cloud, enhance the Gacha reward system with new artwork, and build Evie into a fully functional mobile app to make it more accessible and impactful for everyone.
