Inspiration
We took inspiration from several existing reputable carpark management systems tailored to public and private apartments in various locations worldwide, including in Singapore. Such systems have their own sets of pros and cons, and we took them into consideration while ideating, designing and developing our prototype tailored to HDB estates in Singapore.
What it does
Our prototype automatically analyses activities taking place in HDB estate carparks in real time, including monitoring parking lots, traffic and air quality, and enables residents to share their feedback and enquiries with us with just a single click. This enables us to respond to residents' feedback and enquiries easily and to take justifiable actions in an appropriate manner to alert and inform residents about situations happening in the carparks, and also to encourage residents to take justifiable actions to resolve such situations in a matter of minutes or seconds.
How we built it
(see the "Built with" section below for the platforms we used to develop our prototype)
Challenges we ran into
We were unable to proceed with back-end development of our prototype due to our lack of experience in back-end development and time constraints we faced during the 48-hour period allowed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to produce a prototype showcasing our carpark management system despite the lack of relevant skills and knowledge amongst our team members.
What we learned
We were able to coordinate as a team to solve problems despite facing issues in our team synergy and teamwork during the hackathon
What's next for Parking@HDB
Over the next few months, we aim to implement an AI-powered chatbot (with functionalities similar to ChatGPT) that can produce accurate and reliable responses to most enquiries from residents of estates where our prototype is implemented, to realistically address residents' concerns about estate carparks and the use of our prototype.
