Upcoming tax season and knowing people in my life who have had issues with the tax service, usually due to their own faults.
What it does
turns scattered tax records into a verified federal preview and accountant-ready packet, helping students and gig workers arrive organized without replacing professional advice.
How we built it
Using ChatGPT 5.6 Terra and Sol with highest levels of reasoning to deep dive into the actual usefulness and application of this app and not to be another repository no one uses but an app.
Challenges we ran into
Constantly changing tax structures leading to a temporary focus on the 2024 structure for the demo to later be improved on.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Implementation of 5.6 Terra and fine tuning of the API.
What we learned
ChatGPT 5.6's very deep thinking especially when needing to be creative on its own with no input and create by itself.
What's next for TaxMate
Potentially expanded and pushed to college students/gig workers in the NYC area.
