Finds a year's invoices, receipts and contracts on your NAS, cross-checks amounts, archives them after your approval, and saves a summary your accountant can use.

## Inspiration Every tax season I had to dig through folders for invoices, receipts and contracts, open each file, copy amounts into a spreadsheet, and hope nothing was missed. The documents are private and already live on the NAS, so a NAS is the right place to automate this.

## What it does Tax-Season Assistant is a Skill for UGREEN AI NAS. You give it a tax year, the folders to search and an archive destination. It then:

  1. Finds the year's invoices, receipts and contracts.
  2. Extracts type, vendor, date, amount and currency from each file, using a strict record schema.
  3. Cross-checks invoices against receipts and contracts, and flags amount mismatches and invoices with no matching proof.
  4. Shows a review table. Nothing changes until you confirm.
  5. Archives the confirmed files into Invoices, Receipts and Contracts folders for that year.
  6. Saves a summary with totals, flagged items and skipped files.

## How I built it It is one orchestration SKILL.md, made with the UGOS Skill Creation Tool (uliya-skill-kit) and Claude. It delegates to file-agent, document-agent and knowledge-agent in order, passing only real results to the next step. It uses ug-filesystem, ug-document, file-workflow and ug-knowledge. It passes the kit's static check with 0 errors and 0 warnings.

## Challenges

  • Staying inside the supported capabilities, so I checked every step against the capability catalog.
  • Making extraction reliable. Missing fields are marked "not found" and never guessed, and records that break the schema are rejected.
  • Making it safe. Every change needs confirmation and NAS approval, and nothing is overwritten.

## What I learned A Skill is about orchestration and clear rules for each expert, not code. Strict output formats and honest handling of empty or partial results matter most.

## What's next Testing on a real UGREEN AI NAS, then OCR support for scanned receipts, which the supported capabilities don't cover yet.
