Taut or Not is an app that uses advanced computer vision techniques to tell one if a rope is "Taut" or "Not taut."
Our method for tension classification is incredibly fast, lightweight, robust, and creative. We convert pictures of rope into maps of edge coordinates on the 2D plane, calculate a linear regression through those points, and then use the R (Pearson correlation coefficient) value of the points to determine the "tautness" of rope - essentially how much of a straight line the rope pixels form.
