Inspiration

Tattoo designs have been really interesting lately and there's a lot of symbolic meaning behind them, we were wondering how we could try to incorporate that symbolism into a project for a dream vacation!

What it does

Our project lets you choose some of your hobbies (if applicable) and then takes you through a series of descriptions of tattoos where the user is supposed to choose which ones appeal to them and their personality the most! Using those results, our program (hopefully) should match you with a new, appealing destination to put on your travel list.

How we built it

We broke down the destinations currently used in our program based on their features (adventure level, scenery, nature, etc.) and then used a counter/point system to tally how match of a match to each destination the user is based on their tattoo choices. Based on whichever destination has the most tally points at the end, the user receives their results.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with creating a UI for our project, we went into this thinking that we could use Python to design some sort of graphics without any prior experience, and failed at doing so. We also struggled with a visual representation of the tattoo designs used in our project, opting to instead just describe them. We were able to display images, but not in a way that was organized enough to play around with.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We worked hard! This is both our first experience with coding events and our first Hackathon and we're very proud of ourselves for pursuing through, working through challenges, even if the results weren't ideal. (Plus even though we weren't able to use the UI properly in the project it still turned out really nice).

What we learned

We definitely learned a lot more about how to apply concepts, we both went into this with little Python experience, and all though we've worked with data types and structures before, we never had the opportunity to implement them (especially in a project like this). We both definitely learned more about Python in general and are just more prepared for projects in the future!

What's next for Tatttos4Trips

We're both going to try to add more locations to our quiz and then also (most definitely needed) work on getting some sort of UI developed in our own time.
