Inspiration
Making universities a safer place for everyone
What it does
It allows students to report harassment that they come across on any webpage, specifically social media where other students at their school are on. This is accomplished using a Google Chrome extension that features a form that can be filled out, that when sent will also send a screenshot of the webpage. There is a front-end page for an "admin" to look at. This page includes a list of all submitted "tickets" that they can easily view and take action upon.
How we built it
We created the Chrome app and website using HTML5. The backend was made using Node.JS, Gulp, Typescript, Amazon-dynamodb, and Azure
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was getting the backend to work properly and for us to able to post to a database and retrieve the "tickets" from it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to create a fully functional frontend, backend, and Chrome extension that all work together in just under 24 hours
What we learned
We learned how to actually make Chrome extensions, since none of us had any experience with making them. We also learned some new tricks for coding with HTML5
