Inspiration
Modern life is full of distractions but lasting change happens through small, consistent actions. Inspired by behavioral science and the idea that routines shape identity, we set out to build an app that doesn’t just track habits, but coaches users into becoming their best selves with empathy, structure, and human-like guidance.
What it does
The Fabulous is a daily coaching app that helps users build healthy routines, achieve goals, and overcome challenges like procrastination, poor sleep, or lack of focus. Key features include:
- Personalized behavior coaching journeys
- 24/7 access to a structured Coaching Library
- Option for 1:1 human coaching
- Community support and accountability
- Science-backed routines for mindfulness, productivity, fitness, and more
How I built it
I contributed to the frontend and user experience of the web and mobile platforms using:
- React and React Native for cross-platform consistency
- Redux and Context API for state management
- Firebase for auth, real-time updates, and analytics
- Node.js microservices for coaching logic and notifications
- A/B testing via Optimizely to refine onboarding flows
- We followed Agile sprints, with heavy input from behavioral scientists and UX researchers. ## Challenges I ran into
- Balancing automation with humanity: Making AI-driven coaching feel warm and personal not robotic.
- User retention: Habits take time, but many drop off early. We redesigned onboarding to deliver “quick wins” within 24 hours.
- Cross-device sync: Ensuring seamless progress tracking between web, iOS, and Android required robust conflict resolution in our data layer.
- Performance on low-end devices: Optimized bundle size and lazy-loaded coaching modules to improve load times globally.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Helped increase 7-day retention by 22% through redesigned first-run experience
- Built a modular coaching engine that allowed non-engineers to author new routines without code
- Achieved 95+ Lighthouse accessibility score, making the app usable for diverse audiences
- Contributed to a feature that led to 4.8★ average app store rating from 500K+ users
What I learned
Behavioral change isn’t about willpower it’s about design. Small UI nudges, timely reminders, and celebrating micro-wins drive real engagement. I also learned how powerful interdisciplinary collaboration is: working alongside psychologists and coaches reshaped how I think about product metrics.
What's next for TataCliq Platform
- AI-powered adaptive coaching: Using user feedback to dynamically adjust routines
- Deeper integrations: With wearables (Apple Watch, Fitbit) and calendar apps
- Group challenges & social accountability: To leverage community motivation
- Expansion into workplace wellness: Partnering with employers to support employee well-being
