TastePilot - Find What You Will Love

Project Overview

We have all been in situations where we struggle to find things to love. We may love a certain genre of music, movies, food and travel but may struggle to find items that relate.

What if there was a single platform that understood what we loved and could recommend us things we may love?

TastePilot is a culture discovery platform that uses Qloo's taste intelligence to understand users' preferences and recommend them content in various areas such as music, movies, food, travel and lifestyle.

Inspiration

We wanted to create something more than a random recommendation chat bot. We wanted to create something that understood users' tastes and helped them discover new things.

For example, if you love a certain music artist you may love certain movies, restaurants and travel options. This is what makes recommendations interesting. We wanted to combine this.

Implementation

We are using the same engineering principles from our previous project, the PranavX AI Teammate, however applying them to an entirely new problem.

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Gemini, Qloo API and Supabase will be used.

The principle of the project is simple. Users provide information about what they love. The AI agent understands their preferences. Qloo helps find cultural links. The agent organises this into recommendations.

We are trying to keep the platform simple and easy to use for anyone.

Lessons learnt

While working on this idea we started seeing AI agents differently. We realised that creating an intelligent product goes beyond linking an AI model to an API. We had to understand the problem, provide the correct flow and ensure that our results were validated. We also had to ensure everything was providing a clear purpose.

We also looked into how interests can link between completely unrelated areas.

Challenges

One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring that the Qloo culture intelligence was the central piece of the product.

We also had to consider how we would understand different user preferences, handle and organise API responses and ensure recommendations were useful.

Creating a balance between an AI driven flexible product and an reliable and organised system.

Future

Our goal is for TastePilot to be a platform where discovering new things becomes natural. Whether you are trying to find your next favourite movie, music artist, restaurant or travel spot, TastePilot will help you discover new things easily.
