Inspiration In a globalized world, our identity is shaped by what we watch, listen to, and love. We wanted to create a tool that would reveal a user’s cultural twin—someone from anywhere in the world who shares their taste in music, movies, and brands. TasteMirror was born out of this idea, blending personality insight with cultural mapping using advanced AI and the Qloo Taste API.

What it does TasteMirror allows users to: -Input their favorite movies, music, and brands. -Receive a unique AI-generated persona. -Discover their Cultural Twin. -Visualize their Cultural Map showing regional alignments. -See their Cultural DNA Score – compatibility percentages by country. -Get a Therapy Suggestion based on personality traits. -Download a Cultural Twin Card for sharing. -Use the Try Again feature to shuffle variations. -Experience the app in 8 languages: English, Turkish, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Hindi and Chinese.

How I built it I began by identifying a simple yet meaningful idea: could someone discover their cultural twin through the lens of taste? To bring this to life, I started with the frontend. I designed a minimal yet modern user interface that allowed users to input their favorite movies, music, and brands. Once the interface was ready, I focused on connecting it to a backend system that could process user input using AI. I integrated the Qloo Taste API to extract cultural vectors and combined this with GPT-based personality analysis. This required carefully designing prompts to ensure consistent and human-like insights. One of the trickiest parts was creating personalized outputs that felt relevant and unique. I iterated multiple times on the prompt design and structured the output to include a persona name, a cultural twin, a DNA score, and even therapy suggestions—all generated dynamically. Later, I added multilingual support and visual features like cultural maps and downloadable cards, which helped turn raw data into emotionally engaging, shareable results. The project came together piece by piece—starting with an idea, then transforming into a product through creativity, AI, and a lot of late-night debugging.

Challenges I ran into -API quota limits from OpenAI and Qloo caused fallback behavior. -Implementing multi-language support required updating UI and logic layers. -Generating consistent and meaningful outputs from GPT for diverse inputs. -Designing a UI that balances aesthetics with clarity. -Ensuring frontend/backend synchronization for real-time insights. -Accomplishments that we're proud of. -Built a fully functional AI-powered cultural recommendation tool. -Created a complete GPT + Qloo integration pipeline. -Developed a unique AI Persona Generator with shareable results. -Designed and deployed a multilingual, responsive web application. -Implemented seamless cultural matching logic and dynamic visualizations.
