We did the Presentation competition:

We were inspired by the idea that food is the world’s most universal connector. Every dish carries stories, traditions, and memories — yet most recipe platforms strip away that cultural context. We wanted to create a space where food isn’t just about ingredients, but about connecting people across borders. TasteLink is a social platform where users swipe through authentic family recipes, discover new cuisines, and learn cultural traditions through short videos and stories. Every recipe comes with hands-free Cook Mode, an auto-generated shopping list, and the ability to explore food via an interactive world map. Users can also connect with creators, chat, and even plan to cook together. We designed the app with a swipe-based discovery system, inspired by familiar social apps, and layered on cultural storytelling features.

The biggest challenge was balancing functionality with simplicity. We wanted TasteLink to feel fun and familiar, but also rich in cultural depth. Another hurdle was to make sure that the app doesn't commodify culture which we fixed by letting the user also input stories and heritage when sharing the recipes. We’re proud of creating a prototype that feels intuitive and engaging, while still honoring cultural authenticity. We managed to integrate swiping, storytelling, cooking tools, and global exploration into one cohesive concept. We learned how important it is to design with culture and community at the core, not just convenience.

Next, we want to expand interactive features like collaborative cooking sessions, refine the cultural story feed, and partner with grocery delivery services worldwide.
