Inspiration Cooking, especially when you are living without your family, can be a challenge on a daily basis. As college students we often struggle with the ingredients in our fridge. “Are there any tasty meals I can make with what I have?”. Everyone in the city values their time, so instead of putting extra pressure on ourselves, we need to take advantage of technology. The idea of an AI chef then pops up in our mind. Yet, according to our research, AI bots could already assist citizens in generating recipes. In addition, there are some people who need more guidance with their diets, who are the parents struggling with picky children eaters. Our goal is to improve children's eating environments and proper parenting tailored to each child's needs, making it easier for parents to prepare food for picky eaters while saving them time. Our team strived to solve every day's struggles between parents and their picky eaters, aiming to improve everyone’s life.
What it does: What's in the fridge: Keep track of the ingredients you have on hand. Picky eaters: Children select preferred ingredients, and artificial intelligence sneaks in nutrients. Refresh options: Parents can refresh for more ideas if none of the suggestions appeal to them. Input personalization: It is possible for parents to exclude certain ingredients, etc.
How we built it We used a OpenAi API that gives you ingredients based on what you have in your fridge We used HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React for the front-end. We used Node.js for the backend, which stores user data and sends information to the Ai.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Learned how to integrate OPENAI
- Learning how to use a local storage and storing user data
- Learning how to use HTML and CSS, learning how to use React.
What we learned + Challenges we ran into We definitely need to communicate more. The front-end people and back-end people didn’t know what the other people were doing. I think we felt rushed because we already spent a lot of time talking about our idea. But, we would have saved a lot more time with better planning. We ran into issues such as teammates doing other teammates' parts and not knowing how to connect the front-end and back-end because we didn’t come up with an overall plan of our whole project beforehand.
