One day, Jimmy went to get food, and the sensation of hunger gave him the idea of making food easy for everyone, no matter what you're into, and reliving those memories once again.
At Taste of Nostalgia, our inspiration is deeply rooted in the power of food to evoke memories and emotions. We believe in leveraging technology to create a platform that not only recommends delicious foods but also fosters a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and community around the dining table. 🍽️

By integrating cohere's Taste of Nostalgia creates a personalized dining experience that transcends mere food recommendations. It's like having a trusted friend who knows your palate and understands the stories behind your favourite dishes. 🥘

Initial Planning and Basic Sketches: Figma Front End Implementation: React + Vite, Auth0, TailWind CSS Back End Implementation: Python Flask with MangoDB database
Challenges we ran into
In the process of building Taste of Nostalgia, we encountered several challenges, including:
- Fine-tuning Cohere API prompts to accurately predict users' food preferences.
- Integrating the use of Auth0, ensuring user compatibility and seamless transition across devices
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The implementation of Auth0, with no prior knowledge
- Creating an engaging and intuitive user interface, connecting the back and front end seamlessly
What we learned
- The use of Turn.js in the context of react and be quite challenging, with difficulties in using Vite
- The implementation Auth0 is actually quite rewarding, we will use it in the future
