Inspiration
We were inspired by apps such as Instagram, Tinder, TikTok, that allow users to scroll infinitely through posts. However, instead of scrolling through posts that can often just be distracting or waste time, we wanted to allow users to instead discover new recipes to help them achieve personal goals such as healthy eating.
What it does
The app allows users to scroll through recipes endlessly, and post their own recipes to share with others. They are able to leave detailed instructions, ingredients, and upload images. They are able to do this by creating an account, and users can like other people's recipes to show appreciation. This helps to preserve recipes from a variety of different cultures, preventing them from being lost over time.
How we built it
We built this app using React and Next.js for our frontend, with various node packages. We used Supabase and SQL for our database/backend, and Cloudinary for image uploads.
Challenges we ran into
Working within the short time limit, as well as working together with lots of different team members across lots of different tasks was challenging for us.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate a variety of frameworks and tools into one application, and how to use those tools to build a complete web application
