Inspiration

I was inspired by CogTool link, which I learned in grad school. While CogTool is only available via a software download, I wanted to build a web app capable of something similar, as I couldn't find anything out there like this.

What it does

TaskTimer enables someone to estimate how long an expert user will take to complete a task on a given interface, based on a set of screenshots and the operators (I.e. click, keystroke, etc.) that are added on top of the screenshots.

How we built it

I used Bolt, Supabase, and Netlify.

Challenges we ran into

I hadn't used any of these tools, so I learned a lot along the way! Bolt's discuss tool was very useful. I also found I had to use the terminal a fair amount, such as to re-run the app before deploying in order to get the deploy to 'take' the latest updates.

What's next for TaskTimer

Getting more people (beyond early testers) to use the tool.
