Inspiration
While an internship is always an opportunity to gain further knowledge and get in touch with inspirational people, onboarding can be quite tough for new interns. In fact, assigning tasks in a way that adapts to everyone's needs can be a daunting duty for both the managers and the interns who often have to undertake projects they may not be motivated or properly qualified for.
What it does
Taskee is a tool that allows interns to go through the list of posted tasks, read each of the tasks' description and rate each one, based on several factors such as the time limit, intern's motivation... By that, the tool will automatically dispatch the task between the members of the team.
How we built it
The tool was put together using ReactJs (chakra library) for the front end, Flask (python) and SQL (SQL lite, alchemy) for the back end.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we ran into was the time constraint, as we aim to deliver a good quality product. Which is why we had to work through this time restriction, and watch several tutorials as many of the team members weren't familiar with the technologies used. By that, we had to learn and develop simultaneously.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite not being able to implement all the functionalities we would've wished to include, we have been able to conceive a good, clear and concise design, with proper functional backed, which reached our expectations.
What we learned
During this hackathon we became familiar with the use of React as well as Flask. By that, we were able to expand our knowledge for future similar competitions.
What's next for Taskee
A lot of functionalities are planned for the future. In fact, we would like to integrate Taskee in the existing tool Jira in order to combine the assets of both tools and deliver a good user experience.
