BetterCanvas and planner apps similar to the calendar app on iphone.
What it does
Plans and summarizes tasks for your everyday and school life.
How we built it
We began with a simple react app with a grid that displayed months with days that was able to track tasks assigned to days. We just kept building from there trying to integrate AI into the app so that you could talk to it about your study plans and receive advice on what tasks you should work on next, and for how long to work on it.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the AI to respond was quite tricky, and making sure we all had the proper libraries installed for this project as we collaborated was also an obstacle. The only error that could occur by chance is if the API key for gemini gets used up and no longer responds. We can replace that if need be.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Achieving useful AI feedback, Developing an in depth planner that is accurate to real time and can accurately tell when tasks are going to become urgent, and that the user has total control over what tasks they delete, complete, or create.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how to think in the users perspective in order to make the flow of the app more convenient for users who are going to try this application out. It takes a lot of planning to successfully create a good design that is also efficient with the back end development.
What's next for TaskCalendarApp
We may go on to talk to WSU Engineering 101 to forward our program to them for incoming freshman as a potential for them to use this application as a way to demonstrate to freshman how to balance their workloads.
