Inspiration
We realized we are often unproductive during quarantine and often turn to Netflix or YouTube binges. We wanted a tool that we could use to actively fight our temptations to browse other sites and improve our productivity by pushing us to complete important tasks.
What it does
Taska is designed as a task manager where the user decides which websites to block when working on tasks. When the "Start Working" button begins, the websites are blocked and they must complete a certain amount of tasks to reach the reward threshold to unblock these sites.
How we built it
Bootsrap/HTML/CSS/JS frontend, JS Backend
Challenges we ran into
Building a chrome extension and communicating between the browser and the popup.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to work as a team and make something we all would love to use. Also figuring out JS.
What we learned
How to build a chrome extension and how to code in JS
What's next for Taska
Add to Chrome store for the world to benefit. Add features to count the number of words on Google docs. Allow users to put in key words such as "social media" to block all social media sites.
