The problem TaskTribe solves

Problems with Habit Building

  • Lack of motivation: It can be difficult to find the motivation to start a new habit, especially if it requires a significant change in your daily routine.
  • Lack of accountability: It can be easy to skip a day or two when building a new habit, which can make it hard to make it a consistent part of your routine.
  • Difficulty sticking with the habit: Even if you are able to start a new habit, it can be challenging to stick with it over time. This can be especially true if the habit requires a significant change in your behavior.
  • Unclear goals: If you don't have clear goals for why you want to build a particular habit, it can be hard to stay motivated and on track.
  • Lack of support: Building new habits can be easier if you have the support of friends, family, or a community of people who are also working on similar goals.

How we built it

Task Tribe is built upon the Cross Platform App Framework Ionic which enables rapid prototyping and deployment of projects using React.

The Backend is supported by the Firebase ecosystem for many features, from authentication to database and file storage.

What are we providing and why it’s better?

Habit building is easier when you have an accountability group or accountability partner.

A group is a powerful building in habit building. Many habits, maybe good or bad ones are built more efficiently in groups. A common example can be seen is Smoking.

There are several ways in which an accountability partner can be beneficial for habit-building:

  • Provides motivation: An accountability partner can help motivate you to stick with your habit by providing encouragement and support.
  • Keeps you on track: Checking in with your accountability partner can help keep you on track and prevent you from skipping a day or two.
  • Increases accountability: Knowing that you have someone to report to can increase your sense of accountability and make you more likely to follow through on your goals.
  • Another feature we have in contrast to the existing solutions is the ability to infer trends from habits.
  • Clearly, trends help us to find where we stand and what we are lacking in our progress and enable the user to push ahead in situations where he might give up

Challenges we ran into

Coding a Habits Social Media Platform Proved to be quite a challenge with the restricted 36 hours. While we were able to create an MVP we wanted the app to be more expansive.

Connection with the Firebase backend as well as setting up real-time updates was a Problem in itself.

What's next for Task Tribe

We aim to enhance and adapt the current features to fit closely with the original vision. Integrations with third-party tools to enable seamless habit tracking.

We also aim to process historical as well as user-generated data in order to provide a personalized habit-creation experience.

What we learned

We learned rapid and collaborative development, with tools that proved to expand the frontiers of our knowledge. Ionic though with its own faults proved to be a great tool for any cross-platform app developer.
