Project Story: Taskmatic
With 15+ years of experience in IT and project management, I’ve seen how complicated and stressful it can be to juggle multiple tools for tasks, projects, and notes. Task management often uses one app, project management another, and many still rely on physical notebooks for notes. This fragmentation leads to disorganization and stress.
Teams often struggle because they get overloaded with multiple tasks at once, making multitasking inefficient and leaving many tasks incomplete. The core challenge is how to organize tasks and projects intuitively, adapting to the user's own workflow while providing clear guidance on prioritization.
Taskmatic addresses this by leveraging the Eisenhower matrix to intelligently segregate daily notes and tasks, automatically suggesting actionable tasks when users mention deadlines or deliverables. This reduces stress and improves productivity by helping teams focus on what truly matters.
If users add notes containing sensitive data, Taskmatic masks this information by default to protect privacy. Users can choose to reveal masked content when needed, making it ideal for presentations or shared screens while keeping sensitive data secure.
While collaboration is enhanced by upcoming advanced team assignment features, Taskmatic remains lightweight and focused. It’s primarily a note-taking app that auto-suggests task creation from notes and prioritizes tasks for efficient workflow without overwhelming users with unnecessary features.
Integration challenges across platforms are common, but we successfully deployed Taskmatic using Coolify on Azure servers, with seamless deployment from Bolt to Azure. The app supports Google authentication, ensuring smooth user onboarding.
Inspiration
Inspired by the chaotic nature of task and note management in teams, and the stress it creates. Taskmatic was built to simplify task prioritization and improve productivity by blending note-taking with intelligent task management.
What it does
Taskmatic transforms daily notes into an organized task list using the Eisenhower matrix. It auto-detects deadlines and deliverables in notes, suggesting task creation, and offers timeline planning to help users work efficiently and reduce team stress. Sensitive note data is masked by default for privacy and shared presentation use.
How we built it
Built with Bolt.new for rapid backend and frontend integration, deployed on Azure with Coolify for reliability. Google authentication is integrated for easy login. The core logic revolves around natural language processing to detect task-relevant phrases.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating natural language processing to correctly identify tasks and deadlines in notes was complex. Ensuring smooth deployment from Bolt to Azure also required custom configuration with Coolify.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Seamless integration of Bolt backend with Azure deployment via Coolify. Auto task detection and Eisenhower matrix integration in an intuitive note-taking UI. Reliable Google authentication onboarding.
What we learned
Handling unstructured note data and converting it into actionable, prioritized tasks is challenging but rewarding. Deployment pipelines can be optimized for smooth continuous delivery using Bolt and Coolify.
What's next for Taskmatic
Implementing the Pomodoro technique for focused work sessions, enhancing timeline suggestions, and expanding integrations with popular productivity tools to further reduce team stress and improve collaboration. Advanced team assignment features will also boost collaboration while maintaining app simplicity.
