Inspiration Managing tasks across scattered email threads, sticky notes, and random messaging apps often leads to missed deadlines and unnecessary stress. We were inspired to build Task Manager to solve this everyday workplace friction, creating a single, clean workspace where individuals and teams can organize work, gain visual clarity, and stay effortlessly productive.
What it does Task Manager is an all-in-one web platform that allows users to capture, prioritize, and track their daily work in real time. Key capabilities include:
Task Hierarchy: Create master tasks, break them down into sub-tasks, and organize them into visual folders.
Smart Prioritization: Assign priority levels (High, Medium, Low) and set due dates with automated notifications.
Multiple Dashboard Views: Seamlessly switch between interactive Kanban boards, structured lists, and calendar schedules.
Team Collaboration: Assign tasks, share file attachments, and leave inline comments to centralize discussions.
Analytics: Track completion rates and team bandwidth to prevent bottlenecks.
How we built it Frontend: Developed using React and Tailwind CSS for a fast, responsive, and intuitive dashboard UI.
Backend: Powered by Node.js and Express.js to manage RESTful API endpoints and facilitate authentication.
Database: Structured using MongoDB to manage flexible data models for tasks, project folders, user profiles, and sub-task arrays.
State Management & Interactivity: Integrated drag-and-drop libraries to enable smooth Kanban board task reordering in real time.
Challenges we ran into Multi-View State Synchronization: Ensuring that updates made in the calendar or Kanban view immediately reflected across list views without triggering redundant API calls or layout shifts.
Drag-and-Drop Responsiveness: Fine-tuning touch and cursor events for dragging task cards smoothly across dynamic project columns.
