Inspiration
Dinex and blocks are so hard to sell and buy! What if there was a way to optimize market prices and efficiency so that freshmen can gain maximum profit and upperclassmen can get minimum prices??
What it does
Logs the user in using email and password and stores their information in a database. Displays CMU restaurants as markers on the map, which the user can click on to receive restaurant information.
How we built it
We used the Google maps API to add markers for each dining location. To store data, we used Google Firebase. We developed the entire application in Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
None of us had an Android phone, so using the emulator on an unfamiliar operating system slowed down our development. In addition, it was our first time learning the Google maps API, Firebase, and mobile development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did basically everything for the first time.
What's next for TartanEats
- adding the actual requesting/selling system between users
- adding user profiles so people can find each other
- streamlining navigation
