Inspiration
The Tartan Village is an idea and a product that seeks to provide the CMU Africa Tartan community with a platform of platforms. An interface that integrates and acts as an authenticated hub for new student-facing applications. The purpose is not simply to create another message-sharing application that will join the existing multitude and be drowned out in the noise; we seek to create the central meeting place for Tartans, Alumni, and Faculty
What it does
To create a launchpad for all student-facing applications, such that developers, entrepreneurs, and innovators with a passion for the CMU Africa community can meet the students where they are. It will be the go-to for solutions deployment and publishing. It will be our town center. It will be our village.
The Tartan community is a rapidly growing family. We are aware of CMU Africa’s plans to increase the student body size over the coming years. The Tartan Village will be a robust knowledge center that will provide leverage for Student Services to guide new and existing Tartans on policies and procedures, such as: a. The HEC/Visa documentation process. b. The student handbook and campus activities. c. The internal and external resources (Google Gemini/NotebookLM, IEEE Xplore, Faculty within and outside of CMU Africa) that Tartans can harness. Tartan Village aims to bridge gaps in students' awareness of these resources and ensure that Tartans have complete knowledge of the resource landscape curated for our benefit.
Announcements, broadcasts, calls for team members, and job/internship postings will all be hosted on the Tartan Village. With a fast, smooth, and reliable user interface and experience, coupled with robust search, we will create a centrally managed and monitored source of truth on which Tartans can depend.
