Inspiration
Ever had trouble finding a gift for someone? I had. Tara is for people who have trouble, just like us two, in finding a gift or understanding other people's interests. (Major inspiration: my first date :P )
What it does
Tara uses help from Microsoft's Language Analyzer API to analyze your friends post on Facebook to help you find their interest based on their daily status updates.
How we built it
We extract parts of speech using MS API and categorize the verbs and nouns on interests. We then run a frequency analysis on them to pick the highest ranked interest for the person.
Challenges we ran into
Linguistic analysis and building the actual model was a major challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app itself and what it does. And, of course the completion of the app.

A ton of Microsoft API, Linguistic analysis (a new concept for us)
What's next for Tara
Right now, Tara doesn't do a lot. In future, we are looking into integrating neural networks to make the recommendation more specific.
