The problem your project solves
In the times of Coronavirus (and other epidemics), it is important to wash your hands as many times as possible. But… People contaminate surfaces and objects before accessing the sanitizer. Leading to more contaminations. People are touching everyday stuff all the time without realizing that they can become contaminated. People do not have sanitizer always on hand as antiseptics bottles are a pain to carry around due to different sizes. Disposable gloves and antiseptic bottles are environmentally harmful that is why we need to find and start using reusable substitutes.
The solution you bring to the table
Our solution is a simple bracelet with a container that can hold 5ml.
TAP TWICE bracelet is: Simple and easy to use - production material is also shock and impact resistant; Always on hand as a reminder to sanitize as much as possible; Reusable and simple to refill - possibility to buy in a bundle with refill attached; Fun with different colored straps - same feeling as wearing a watch; Easy to make with a plastic injection molding; Able to produce big quantities in a short time; Low cost;
TAP TWICE bracelet is made from two parts:
Container and lid to contain the antiseptic - this part is our design to maximize the space and have the properties that we need. This is made of plastic and rubber-like materials.
Straps - this part we outsource and buy from already existing straps from sport smartwatch products.
We are planning to start producing containers with plastic injection molding methods and outsourcing the straps. We will put the product together and do packaging and shipping from our facilities. With this method, we will get fast production and lower costs.
With the TAP TWICE bracelet product, we are trying to stimulate the general public to sanitize more and help prevent the expansion of the COVID-19 virus. Our slogan is “tap twice and kill corona!”
What you have done during the weekend
In the last week, we made numerous 3D prototypes and came up with a functional solution using different types of plastic (TPU and PLA). On Wednesday we put together the existing team and we already started designing a mold for plastic injection.
This weekend we focused on content and communication to customers, we created a web page and video also finished designing a mold for plastic injection and negotiated prototyping of a mold to be able to make an MVP for between 1000 to 10000 containers made from TPE and PP plastic.
On Monday the expert starts constructing the mold and we are hoping to have the first products made until the end of next week.
The solution’s impact on the crisis
We think that our solution can have a big impact on preventing the expansion of COVID-19. Gloves and hand sanitizers don’t cover all angles where people could spread the infection on surfaces. As we know hand hygiene is one of the most important things to facilitate the prevention of the virus and our product TAP TWICE directly affects hand hygiene and covers all the areas that no product on the market could so far. Our added value is that we expect to help people to sanitize more often because our bracelet serves also as a reminder. Since TAP TWICE works on a refill basis only, it is extremely friendly to the environment as it gives people the option to buy sanitizers in larger bottles for refill purposes.
The necessities in order to continue the project
We already continue the project. We negotiated a prototyped mold for plastic injection to do the MVP. With that, we think that we will be able to produce the first 1000 bracelets on our own. If that is successful then we will enter the next stage of development and order the new professional mold for plastic injection which could be around 15.000€. That is why we anticipated we will need additional investment to gain the cash flow to start producing 10.000+ products.
The value of your solution(s) after the crisis
TAP TWICE bracelet is made for the general public in the times of the crisis we are having now or just in the flu season.
We also think that this product can really help patients with weak immune systems (cancer patients, patients with lung diseases, or patients who are on immunosuppressive medications) It can be a good add-on for medical personnel because of their need to sanitize their hands multiple times a day.
