Inspiration
The inspiration was simple, started with just and idea and love for chillwave music which then turned out to be a college project for me and then went full production for worldwide exposure via play store. In a simpler term, I was passionate to create a game while I was learning Unity and listening to music from my favourite artists.
What it does
Takes the songs and create a gameplay based on it. The game detects beat and applies it to the selected playstyle.
How I built it
Created a Roadmap, a very basic one, just to keep thing clear and focused and then just started working on it. Started by thinking which modes can be good for rhythm-based game, finalized with a few ones, and then made it. Tested for as long as I can on the devices I had (not much), and when it seemed good enough, I uploaded it on play store. Just the simple experiment and implement process was the main path.
Challenges I ran into
Many. There were so many bugs and so many issues I had to face. As I was working solo on this i had no proper help. Had to mostly rely on self-learning and fixing things by myself. Sometimes even taking days. Major issues were that I didn't know what to expect. Every time I tried to experiment with a new mode it usually required working all the way from scratch up. Also, for the songs, I had to create a workaround to read songs from device and also for the songs to create an algorithm to make the beat work with the game mode. There were many such issues and still some exist but it's much more polished.
What I learned
It was much like a learning experience. I came to know a lot more things about unity and google play services during the development of this game which will be very useful for further such creations.
What's next for Tap Tiles
The game will be occasionally updated with new content, mostly new songs and new modes.
