Inspiration
Have you ever experienced prolonged wait times due to restaurants being understaffed? Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many workers have been seen leaving the dining industry due to concerns towards health and the heavy workload. “According to the NRA, 78% of restaurant owners across the U.S. report they don’t have enough employees during COVID-19 pandemic to support their current customer demand.”
And so, our group wanted to create a platform that would help restaurant owners reduce the friction between the kitchen and the customer and be able to communicate with its customers efficiently.
What it does
Tap-N-Dine is an innovative solution to automate the process between the customer and the hospitality industry. By streamlining the reservation, ordering and the payment stages that a customer will go through, we would be able to tackle the labor shortage
How we built it
Software: Our team used React to built a frontend website, Firebase for our backend with implementations of NCR APIs: Catalog, Sites, Order and CDM. Flutter was used for our customer Android application.
Video demo for the Android application is available in the google drive link below.
Hardware: NFC tags and Arduino.
Challenges we ran into
APIs took a significant chunk of our group's time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Implementing multiple NCR APIs, especially since in the last Hackathon, my group member and I had difficulties implementing them.
Developing a full stack application that integrated multiple components during this weekend. We were able to figure out the logistics behind our idea.
What we learned
How to effectively tackle a solution that targeted both the customer and the business aspects.
