Inspiration

Small and medium businesses (SMBs) and high-growth e-commerce brands in Southeast Asia face a devastating reality: over 40% of prospective buyers abandon purchases because inquiries sent after business hours (the "3 AM Silent Churn") go unanswered. Furthermore, human customer support teams struggle to maintain context across 5 fragmented inboxes (WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Web), leading to wrong stock information and missed sales. We built Tanyaiku to replace passive chatbots with an active, autonomous AI agent that takes real business action 24/7.

What it does

  • Tanyaiku is not a prompt wrapper. It is a full-fledged, multi-tenant Autonomous Agentic Engine: Omnichannel Synchronous Intelligence: Unifies WhatsApp, Instagram DM, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, and Web into a single Gemini-powered agent brain.
  • Dynamic Inventory Memory Bank: Business owners can override daily out-of-stock items in real-time. The agent instantly recognizes unavailable items, politely rejects out-of-stock orders, and recommends alternatives without retraining.
  • Autonomous Lead Intent Scoring: Evaluates real-time conversation dynamics to tag leads (Hot, Warm, Cold) and automatically triggers urgent WhatsApp alerts to business owners for high-ticket orders.
  • 24/7 Outbound Cart Recovery Agent: Asynchronously schedules follow-up messages and personalized discount recovery loops for abandoned checkouts.
  • Brand Safety & Compliance Guard: Pre-evaluates all generated content against customized merchant safety guidelines before sending.
  • Production Mobile App: The merchant dashboard is soon-to-be-live on Google Play Store for Android merchants to manage inventory, leads, and agents on the go. The .aab file is currently undergoing review from Google Play Store team. You can download it here in the next couple of days

How we built it

  • AI Core: Built using the modern @google/genai TypeScript SDK leveraging Gemini 3.6 Flash for multi-step reasoning, real-time context injection, and structured output parsing.
  • Backend Infrastructure: Containerized Node.js & Express backend deployed on Google Cloud Run (asia-southeast1), ensuring sub-second cold starts and autoscaling.
  • State Management & Memory: Google Cloud Firestore handles multi-tenant data, persistent chat context, product catalogs, and scheduled outbound tasks.
  • Frontend & Admin Console: Built with React 18, Tailwind CSS, and Lucide Icons for an ultra-fast merchant dashboard.

💡 Project Genesis & Strategic Evolution

Tanyaiku was born from a high-stakes vision: to engineer an autonomous, AI-operated enterprise capable of running sales, customer support, and growth for small businesses. We originally architected the conceptual framework for the Google XPRIZE Digital Business Challenge (Small Business Services category). However, recognizing that true small business trust cannot be built on rushed, half-baked chatbots without verified guardrails, we made a conscious decision to officially withdraw from the XPRIZE competition. We chose to prioritize engineering depth, reliable agentic autonomy, and enterprise compliance before commercial monetization.

When Google announced the All Things Agentic Hackathon (August 3–31, 2026), it provided the perfect catalyst. We dedicated the entire submission window to building, deploying, and containerizing our next-generation Autonomous Agentic Engine on Google Cloud Run and Gemini 3.6 Flash.

🚀 What We Engineered During the Submission Period

While using our foundational SaaS starter shell, 100% of the active agentic systems were designed, coded, and deployed during this hackathon:

  1. Dynamic Context Override (Memory Bank): Real-time stock status sync in Cloud Firestore that prevents hallucinated orders across 5 channels.
  2. Autonomous Lead Scoring (CRM Engine): Asynchronous evaluation of customer purchase intent (Hot, Warm, Cold) with instant private WhatsApp alerts dispatched to business owners.
  3. 24/7 Outbound Recovery Agent: Background execution loop on Google Cloud Run executing automated cart recovery and follow-ups.
  4. Autonomous AI Social Marketing Hub: Multi-platform 7-day content scheduler with an integrated Brand Safety & Compliance Guard.
  5. Multi-Channel Webhook Gateway: Unified routing across WhatsApp, Instagram DM, TikTok, Facebook, and Web.

🗺️ Commercial Roadmap & Pilot Program (September 2026 – 2027)

  • Phase 1 (September 2026) - Controlled Pilot Launch: We are rolling out a private pilot cohort with 5 to 10 select Indonesian SMBs (retail, F&B, and local e-commerce) to stress-test real-world agent interactions, stock overrides, and outbound conversion rates.
  • Phase 2 (Q4 2026) - Hardening & Performance Optimization: 4-month iterative maturation period focusing on latency optimization, multi-agent coordination, and fine-tuning domain prompts based on pilot merchant feedback.
  • Phase 3 (Q1 2027) - Nationwide Commercial Scale: Official public launch and marketing rollout across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, targeting over 10,000+ active SMB merchants.

This turns Tanyaiku from "software" into "infrastructure". Any ERP, CRM, E-commerce, or POS can now plug into our Gemini-powered agent brain in minutes.

Challenges we ran into

  • Balancing low-latency conversational responses with complex background reasoning (such as simultaneous intent scoring and out-of-stock validation) was challenging. We solved this by architecting an asynchronous execution loop in Cloud Run where customer replies are streamed instantly, while CRM intent classification and owner alert dispatches happen non-blockingly in the background.

  • Engineered a true agentic workflow where Gemini actively acts as a 24/7 autonomous sales representative, not just a passive question-answerer.
  • Achieved seamless sub-second response times across 5 messaging channels simultaneously on Google Cloud Run.
  • Built a production-ready system with real merchant utility, enterprise-grade multi-tenancy, and Web3 reward settlement capabilities.
  • Autonomous AI Multi-Layer Safety & Guardrails: Building a truly autonomous AI agent requires strict reliability, brand safety, and cost predictability. We are proud to have engineered a comprehensive 5-Layer Production Guardrail Architecture that protects merchants and customers 24/7:
  1. 🛡️ Strict Knowledge Grounding & Anti-Hallucination Sandbox:
    • The AI reasoning pipeline strictly binds responses to verified merchant Knowledge Base documents (Product Catalog, FAQs, PDF/Text).
    • When requested items are out of stock or inquiries fall outside the merchant's domain, the agent is mathematically forbidden from inventing prices or specifications, gracefully falling back to structured human escalation.
  2. ⚡ Per-Tenant Rate Limiting & Anti-Spam Cooldown Engine:
    • Integrated with our GlobalTenantRateLimiterConfig and granular Requests-Per-Minute (RPM) throttling.
    • Actively shields merchant numbers from WhatsApp/Meta rate limits and prevents algorithmic shadowbans from rapid-fire messaging loops.
  3. 🚨 Circuit Breaker & Autonomous Safety Kill-Switch:
    • Continuously monitors conversation anomalies, recursive response loops, and error spikes.
    • If an edge-case anomaly is detected, the circuit breaker automatically halts autonomous execution for that session and alerts the business owner via real-time dashboard and email triggers.
  4. 🤝 Human-in-the-Loop Thresholds & Lead Intent Escalation:
    • Autonomous outbound follow-ups, checkout nudges, and payment links are only triggered when customer interest passes strict lead intent scoring thresholds (Warm/Hot).
    • High-friction dialogues or refund complaints are automatically routed to human staff via the unified Omnichannel Inbox.
  5. 🔒 Financial & Sensitive Action Security Barrier:
    • Web3 token incentives (DCT), SunSwap liquidity routing, and balance deductions cannot be arbitrarily altered by LLM text generation alone.
    • Every financial action requires deterministic server-side cryptographic signatures, gas estimation validation, and Firestore transaction verification.

What we learned

Building a truly autonomous AI product forced us to unlearn the "move fast and launch" startup mantra.

  1. Product Strength = Ecosystem Synergy: A strong product cannot be rushed to market. Real reliability comes from tight synergy between AI logic, backend infrastructure, compliance guardrails, and human operations. Gemini 3.6 Flash is powerful, but without Firestore memory, Cloud Run async loops, and human escalation paths, it just hallucinates. Every element must talk to each other perfectly.

  2. You Cannot Build This Alone: True agentic autonomy requires more than code. It requires legal, finance, ops, and merchant trust. We learned that engineering is only 40% of the job. The other 60% is building the ecosystem around it.

  3. The Hardest Part is Not Technical: Shipping to production in Indonesia means dealing with real-world complexity: business permits, tax compliance (PPN, PPh), Play Store policies, WhatsApp Business API verification, and data privacy. These are not blockers, they are part of the product. Ignoring them means building a toy, not a business.

Ultimately, Gemini 3.6 Flash taught us precision in instruction-following. But the market taught us patience, discipline, and respect for the process.
