Inspiration
We were inspired by PIMCO's challenge. Our Dev team related to feeling like we couldn't keep track of our finances. We felt like it would be a lot easier to do so if the process was gamified. So, that's exactly what we did for this project!
What it does
Reveille Reserve is your one-stop shop for financial empowerment! Reveille Reserve combines two powerful tools to help you achieve financial success: an interactive avatar roadmap and a dynamic financial literacy challenge. You can journey through our avatar roadmap as your avatar moves across checkpoints representing your savings milestones. Alongside this, you can sharpen your money management skills with our financial literacy challenge, featuring random questions to enhance your financial knowledge.
How we built it
We built this project using a combination of coding languages, frameworks, and tools. We primarily used JAVASCRIPT, CSS, HTML, PYTHON, and C++. The tools and frameworks we focused on were GIT, FLASK, and REACT.
Challenges we ran into
3/4 of us in our team were first-time hackers! Since the majority of the developer team did not have experience in hackathons, we had a hard time getting started. Nonetheless, once we were situated, we had a roll on things! We were able to learn how to use Git and VSCode. Whenever we ran into problems, we worked with others in our group.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Most of us were first time hackers, so this was our first time working with git. We are proud that we completed so much in such a short amount of time and that we were able to learn more about coding.
What we learned
Many of us from this Dev team noted enjoying learning through doing. Through the hackathon and this project, we were able to learn how to import APIs, work with different coding languages at once, and create an interface that was interactive with the average user.
What's next for TamuHack
Next year, we hope to come back with more creative ideas and a broader understanding of the software field. We'll be ready to take on the challenges thrown our way with enthusiasm!
