Inspiration
The inspiration behind this project was the struggle of having good financial behavior, whether spending or saving habits, where the money is being split into, and keeping track of how much of a monthly payment is allocated toward certain things.
What it does
This website offers a way for people to check and see how their budget would work. You’ll start first with how much you earn in total per month. Then you will work down your expenses listing what type of expenses you as a person deal with because not everybody is in the same financial situation. Whether you are a parent who needs to consider daycare costs or a student who needs to account for the cost of textbooks. Everybody’s experiences are unique. After this step, we will ask how much you would like to save and what for. These savings can be for a new laptop, a vacation, or a rainy day fund in general. After all of this is done, you press calculate and see how everything rounds out.
How we built it
We built our app using Flask, and coded the pages using HTML and javascript. We also used Adobe Photoshop to animate the GIFs.
Challenges we ran into
Two of our team members were unfamiliar with Flask and javascript. It was a learning curve for them to overcome, but was possible. The team member who animated the GIF had to learn and relearn how to animate in Adobe Photoshop.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Animated two GIFS in 24 hours -connecting front end and back end - javascript and html - to display graphs, calculate costs, and read user input
What we learned
How to integrate front end and back end more seamlessly, use tools like Flask, and a new programming language. Learned how to use Adobe Photoshop to animate the GIFs.
What's next for Untitled
